Kutná Hora Tour
UNESCO World Heritage in the Czech Republic.
"In short: this trip will take you to spend marvelous time in this breathtaking town. Join the tour and you will see, why it became one of the most important UNESCO heritage in the Czech Republic."
Kutná Hora is a medieval mining town founded in the 13th century, known as a "Silver Treasure House of Kingdom”. Later on Kutná Hora became one of the richest sources of silver in Europe and also the second most important town of the Bohemian Kingdom. Even now it has kept the character of a medieval town and without a doubt is one of the most important UNESCO heritage sites in the Czech Republic containing 316 buildings of cultural importance. In the late 13th century, one-third of the total production of silver in Europe came from Kutná Hora.
On this excursion, we visit the famous Bone church, which dates back to the 14th century, and it is decorated with more than 40 000 human skeletons, which were buried during the plague in 1318 and Hussite Wars here. On our tour, we also visit the outstanding cathedral of St.Barbora, dedicated to the patron saint of miners. The cathedral belongs among the greatest work in the late Gothic style in the Czech lands. The first architect was Jan Parler, the son of Petr Parler, the builder of St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague. The construction began in 1388 and was completed in 1905.
After the little walk in the picturesque streets of Kutná Hora, we will reach another treasure called Italian court. There we will learn interesting facts about minting of coins throughout of the Czech history. The complex includes the Royal Audience Hall where Vladislav Jagiello was elected the King of Bohemia in 1471 and beautiful Art nouveau chapel with a valuable wooden altar.
